The Future Of This Blog Hangs In The Balance…

February 28, 2008 by Evan

….as I seem to want to use Tumblr more. This is my tumblog.

Not sure if I will keep a blog and tumblog, or tumblog only. But the tumblog has stuff that I find that I don’t use for UNEASYsilence.com

I should know what I’m doing pretty soon.

Overloaded

January 24, 2008 by Evan

I think I seriously need to just cut back. My new PC has too much junk on it, I use Firefox, Safari, IE7, Opera, and Flock. I have tons of music and it’s not totally organized, I download a lot of little files, I run Vista, installed a dock yet still have icons all over, I use the desktop to dump everything. I feel like just reinstalling everything and starting over – but it won’t be that easy.

When you think about it, it’s an overall sort of thing. If I really want to organize my PC life better, my overall life has to improve. This means, sadly, I need to stop being a packrat in real life as well and clear out everything. I actually would love to do this. Anyone else interested in going on this journey with me and leading a more minimalist life? I could use support as I go into relapse. :D

Merry Christmas

December 26, 2007 by Evan

I hope your Christmas was enjoyable and safe. I spent all my time getting themes and applications for my Nokia E50. The Symbian OS is something else, I’m trying to figure it out.

Firefox Update

December 20, 2007 by Evan

I love Firefox but cannot stand it in Vista. I use a LOT of tabs and never close my browser. At least, I used to until Firefox would cash all the time. Now there’s all this talk about Firefox 3 and Mozilla makes it clear that it’s for testing purposes.

I didn’t want to update it, so I got the portable version and like it. I was alternating between my FF install and the portable FF3. Today there was an update available and I decided to go through, only thing is, it happened to the installed FF2, not the portable FF3. That makes no sense from a user standpoint, but hey I’ll live. Now I’m stuck with FF3 Beta 2 as my default browser, along with Opera, Flock, IE7 and Safari.

Be warned, or go get FF3 if you haven’t already and want to.

As I was about to publish, FF froze on me again and had to quit. At least when FF crashes it gives you the option of getting back the tabs you had open.

Google Reader/Talk Hookup

December 15, 2007 by Evan

Interesting update to Google Reader tonight, people on your Google Talk list will have their shared items in your Google Reader shown, if you want. Did what I say make no sense? In essence, you can add me to Google talk and have items I share from my Google Reader list . Don’t take my word for it, read the official thing here. If you want to see what I am sharing, add me to google talk (or in chat in gmail) to see what I’m sharing. I’m going to start sharing things more now, so hey, why not? Add samureye to Google chat, or just subscribe the old fashioned way. Fair warning, you’re bound to get a lot of tech, hip-hop and random content.

Journey Over?

December 14, 2007 by Evan

Sad news, it seems as though Journeyman is no more. I said I wouldn’t do this, I said I wouldn’t fall for any new shows since I’m treated so badly. I still miss Knights of Prosperity, and now Journeyman. At least Pushing Daisies might make it.

Edgeio Goes Kaput

December 8, 2007 by Evan

Edgeio, a company which I was following somewhat is going belly-up. In a blog post on Techcrunch, co-founder Michael Arrington broke the news (before Edgeio strangely enough) much to the expectation of many.

How do you burn through half a million US in a month? I’m currently working on a couple sites, more blog-oriented, and seeing this news is a bit sobering. Time to look at what works and what doesn’t work.

Thanks a lot Edgeio, though. I got a LOT of traffic thanks to this write-up I did. They’ve also garnered more attention on the blog as well. Best of luck to all those involved at the company. Seriously, half a million a month?

What Are Your Google Reader Stats?

December 4, 2007 by Evan

So, I like doing stuff like this where you get people to post something about themselves. To my two readers, whom I pay, what are your feed reader stats like? I have trimmed out a LOT of my blogs lately, but I want to go down more. Gecko? Cornell?

8 Songs

December 4, 2007 by Evan

That’s how many songs I like on this list. Seriously, “gimme more” isn’t so bad in the background, not really listening to it. Should I be concerned?

Google Reader’s Updates

December 4, 2007 by Evan

If you take a look, I’ve had quite a bit to say about Google Reader. Some might say I’m complaining too much, but who cares!? What can I say? I like Dvorak on TWiT.

So, now you can finally drag and drop your feeds in Google Reader which is great. Since I have to go through a lot of feeds for blogging, I subscribe to a lot of feeds, finding blogs daily and adding them. I may throw them in a folder, or none at all and before when checking out the feed for a bit I would know if to dump it or put it in t a folder.  Dragging and dropping is just so much better, and 100% natural. Though I am sure I’ve asked already, what are you using? Do you have to go through a high volume of feeds like me? I don’t want to deal with not getting my info if I’m not on my PC, so I opt for web-based products.
