Here’s an update on all that Joe Rogan stuff I talked about last week. See the original entry here. I wish WordPress.com allowed for a miniblog, that way I could keep these smaller things from wasting your time. C’est la vie.

Joe Rogan Update
February 21, 2007Statwatch and Tagging!
February 16, 2007The article on Joe Rogan vs. Carlos Mencia has blown up a bit, take a look. This made me wonder, what are YOUR stats looking like? Okay, that’s not totally fair that I should ask something like this when I obviously have a spike that does not reflect my daily stats, but let’s ignore the last spike: I’m tagging a few people on wordpress.com daring them to show what their stats look like. Note, I’m just talking about the graph, you don’t have to show actual number, which is on the left. Omit that if you wish. If I get any replies, then cool, if not, then oh well. I’m actually going to tag people who don’t know me, which is not how this is supposed to work, but I’m crazy like that.

Does Carlos Mencia Rule The World?
February 16, 2007Okay, so I’ve heard about some incident about The Comedy Store and Joe Rogan but I have not been following it much. I don’t know of Joe Rogan much, or at least I didn’t. I knew he did The Man Show and was host of Fear Factor, a show I watched, but he wasn’t particularly funny on the show, not that he wasn’t interesting enough to watch.
Late last year I understood just how funny he really was after watching this video of him doing a show in what I believe is Las Vegas handing a heckler. He was brilliantly brutal.
Joe Rogan is the new Chuck Norris.
Since I apparently am not subscribed to any blogs that would have told me about this, I had to do my own research. Why did I? Saw mention of it on Attack Of The Show! not to mention my own interest in stand-up comedy.
I’ve known Joe Rogan to constantly call out people who he thinks steal content. I know he’s been saying this about Dane Cook for quite some time. I have all of Dane’s albums, think he’s hilarious, but for someone to say he’s a thief makes me think. Is Rogan right? I don’t think he is making things up, there’s only one way you can say something like this and not feel stupid – with evidence. Here is that evidence, but this post is about more recent events.
Joe Rogan lays it out on his site, and it’s a funny read. In short, Joe, along with other comics know of his stealing content but others are afraid to say anything because of his star power, having his own show on Comedy Central, essentially. I’ve seen this show, it has its moments, but is nothing to make me think that this guy has any sort of “power” or could be feared in the way that Joe makes it out that he is, with people not wanting to perform when he’s in the room. If Dave Chappelle stole, I would totally see something like this happening. Who could lock horns with Chappelle? Nobody.
Joe posted a video of this incident on the internet. The incident in question is Joe on stage with Carlos calling him out on everything. Take a look at the video in question.
What I want to know is: Does Carlos Mencia rule the world? Joe links to the video on youtube on his site and this is what I meet.
Is this for real?
What’s more, Joe reports on another entry on his blog that he’s essentially been dropped by his agent for not wanting to apologise to Carlos. He’s also been banned from the Comedy Store. I can understand the agent dropping him. Why? Because nobody knows Joe Rogan, for now, and everyone knows Carlos Mencia, supposedly.
As it is, I commend Rogan for what he did: what others were afraid to do. I can very much relate to having your content stolen, albeit in a smaller sense. It seems that he is getting support though, support I think he deserves. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with this and where things go from here. What happens when Mencia’s show inevitably goes off the air? Watch the videos, read the blog entries, draw your own conclusion.
Carlos Mencia!
February 8, 2007This is funny. I’m watching CNN Headline News’ coverage of Anna Nicole Smith’s death (which is pretty slow compared to what’s on the Internet btw, get more info over at TMZ.com) and they’re talking to a guy named Carlos Mencia. He’s a fat Mexican.
